Happy 5th Anniversary, ATP!

Believe it or not, today marks 5 years that I chose to leave my teaching career and go full-time with my part-time/side job of photography.  Five years ago today, Abbie Takes Pictures was born!! Through a chain of crazy events (and ultimately, huge blessings), my life took a turn that I just didn’t see coming.  I’ll always say that if you would have told me that I’d be leaving teaching 2 weeks before this all happened, I would have totally laughed and thought you were bonkers!!  There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t sit back and take a few seconds to marvel at the life I get to lead, while traveling the country doing what I love.

I am still completely blown away and humbled by my career and the people I get to work with every day.  There are so many aspects of this “job” that I love, that it’s hard to nail down just a few. (I still say it doesn’t feel like a job!)  From the newborn babies, to the incredible love I see and experience with my couples on their wedding days… it’s all so touching and deeply powerful.  Even meeting new families, or photographing growing families that I have been capturing for years… it’s so full of love.  Even my latest adventure of speaking and teaching at photography conferences has been so much fun!  I LOVE meeting other photographers and having such a sense of community with them.  It has really brought my teaching career full-circle, which is a great thing to experience.

It’s all just so awesome.  To each and every one of you that have supported me through this journey so far, thank you all from the very bottom of my heart for all that you do.  Without all of you sharing my photos, and telling your friends and family about ATP, there would be no Abbie Takes Pictures.
